Dressing The Flower Girl

Selecting the Flower Girl's dress can be a lot of fun. The dresses are just so cute! Following are some tips but just remember, no matter what you choose, she will look darling!

Match The Bridesmaids

The Flower Girl's dress may match the Bridesmaids' in color and may be short or floor length.

Match The Bride

Or you could have her dress match the Bride's dress. Some wedding dresses have matching Flower Girl dresses.

Select a Party Dress

If you don't want the Flower Girl to match either the bride or the bridesmaids, she could wear a short lacy party dress.

Shoes

She usually wears white or pastel ballet slippers or dress shoes.

Her Hair

For an added touch you could add a flowered wreath woven with colored ribbons to her hair.

Who Pays?

The Flower Girl's parents are responsible for the Flower Girl's attire. The bride and groom, however, should supply the flower girl with her basket of flower petals or bouquet.

To Amanda - No apologies necessary really! It is strange that the conversation is on the ring bearer article but it really started as a ring bearer conversation and turned into the whole dressing boys as flower girls conversation so I can see why you would look for the thread on this article. In any event, it is and always has been on the ring bearer article. I appreciate all comments, positive or negative. All feedback helps me to continue to provide a valuable site. Thanks for using it! Have a nice weekend! ~Lei

To Lei, I'm sorry I made those cencorship comments. When I couldn't find the previous thread here, I just assumed that you had totally removed it from this site. I had no idea it had been moved to the "Dressing the Ring Bearer" forum because the thread was talking about ring bearers per se. Rather, it was focused more on flower girls and bridesmaids. So again, I'm sorry; I was too rash and jumped to a wrong conclusion. Please accept my apology.

To Amanda from Redondo Beach, California -

I appreciate your comments, but I believe you are mistaken - the article with all of the posts about dressing boys in flower girl dresses is the Ring Bearer article and I haven't removed the posts about it. Here is a link to that article:

In any event, your accusations of censorship are totally off-base. I work VERY hard on this site and I want it to be full of useful information and ideas. Whether or not I agree with something is irrelevent!

To be clear, this is not a free for all forum or bulletin board. I reserve the right to remove any post I wish as the publisher of this site BUT I generally only remove posts that are offensive by using foul language, are off-topic (non-wedding related), are blatant advertisements or SPAM, or are in some way illegal.

So keep posting everybody and let's try to keep smiling and be kind to one another! Wedding planning should be fun! ~ Lei

To the ladies and gentlemen who have been following this thread, the fact that most of the comments have been removed is proving to be a prime example of censorship on the part of Ms. Lytle. Just because she didn't happen to agree with some of the information that was posted here or the direction the thread was going, it doesn't give her the right to omit the previous 63 posts. This is a public forum, after all. If Ms. Lytle doesn't want comments posted that she doesn't agree with, then the entire forum portion of Atlanta Bridal might as well be removed from the website. I don't know about the rest of you, but I find her censorship to be more appalling than the idea of using little boys as flower girls or young men as bridesmaids!

Little flowergirls are the show stealers !! Many gorgeous designs are available from many great companies...... I personally love the work of Designs by Allegro, the Ladybug Collection which is what we carry in our salon. Amazing shantung silks and great satins along with a real extensive colour selection. All of their designs are classic in detail and elegant but age appropriate. William Jupitz is a delight and a creative force in the industry! Love those Ladybugs!!!!

Wedding Date: every day !!
