Flowers for the Ceremony

Use Flowers to Direct Attention to the Couple

The primary purpose of flowers during the ceremony is to direct visual attention towards the front of the site where the couple is standing -- not to turn the entire church or ceremony location into a beautiful garden scene. With this in mind, you really shouldn't go overboard decorating the entire ceremony site - focus on the area where the bride and groom will be standing and you should be fine.

Check for Decorating Restrictions

Before choosing any flowers for decorating the ceremony, you need to check with the church or ceremony site to find out if there are any restrictions or regulations on flowers and other decorations. Many churches will not allow open flames anywhere except at the altar.

Meet Your Florist at the Ceremony Location

Before you choose a florist, make sure that she is familiar with the ceremony site. If she is not, have her visit the site prior to your signing a contract. Once inside the ceremony location with the florist, make a sketch with details of what you plan to do and ask to attach it to your contract.
