| EM | Posted - 6 January 2000 10:4 Here's what we did for save the date cards. A friend just sent hers & they were on 5x7 cards that simple said: Please save the date of xxx for the wedding of xxxx. Then it listed hotel information. It was simple but nice. You can do them pretty cheaply if you have a printer. Here's what we did: total cost was around $40). I got some cute 4x5 cards from Paper Affair (party city has 'em too)that go thru my printer & that included the following: "We hope you'll be about to save the date of xxx to join us for our wedding. Friday evening you are invited to join us for an informal dinner hosted by (grooms parents) in the hospitality suite of the xxx hotel. The hospitality suite will be open for the weekend for all guest of the wedding with drinks and snacks provided. Accomondations are reserved until xxx at xxx hotel. please call xxx & ask for the xxx Saturday evening will be an adult only reception. Please call (the bride) at xxx to arrange for sitting services at the hotel. Children are welcome friday evening at the Transportation to the hotel from Chicago airport is (blah blah blah)." | Kelly | Posted - 10 January 2000 16:25 I just posted this on another topic, but for my save the date cards, I used blank business cards from Office Depot. They have plain white or ivory, but I found some with flowers. A box of 100 cards only cost me about $6. I printed them myself with a fancy script font. They are pre-preforated. I only put a few things- Save the Date! Our names Invitation to follow* *The modern etiquette books say to put this so there is no confusion. It was fun to get Christmas cards back from our friends and family that said things like "looking forward to May!" Plus, I think now people have it on their calendar and are planning for coming. I might use the leftover cards to make my own place cards at the reception too, they will match, and save me some money! |

| michele | Posted - 13 January 2000 17:11 My thinking was to coordinate it with tax refunds. That way, if people wanted to come, they would know the details when they had a little extra money. I guess that would be irrelevant with your guests from Germany :) Michele |
| EM | Posted - 13 January 2000 17:44 I think I heard/read that 6 months - 4 months was standard. That gives people a chance to look for airfare, make vacation plans, etc. We sent ours at the end of 3 months, a little later than I would've liked since the invites are going out at 2 months. |
| Kelly | Posted - 17 January 2000 12:36 I sent mine in my Christmas cards- just because it was convenient- our wedding isn't until May, but I wanted my guests to be able to plan for it. They are coming from FL, VA and IN. I guess it was about 5 1/2 months out. |
