Earlier this week, TheWeddingMile.com, an online marketplace for handcrafted and vintage weddings, announced the official launch of the company’s marketplace for buying and selling custom handcrafted goods for wedding and bridal events. Created for both buyers and sellers, the virtual storefront is super cute and provides tons of Pinterest like inspiration for weddings.
This site provides sellers a virtual storefront to list their goods, take customer orders and promote their craft. In order to become a seller, artisans must create their own original handcrafted goods, which can be customized to each buyer’s request.
For brides, this site offers multiple ways to search for items to suit their needs and... the most interesting thing to me is that buyers can request items be customized to their liking.
TheWeddingMile.com also offers an online wedding registry, providing users with a unique page link so that family and friends can view each “wish list.” The Web site’s blog also offers content for brides, keeping them up-to-date with current wedding trends and wedding inspiration. Lastly, this online wedding marketplace features a wedding expert who is available to answer any questions related to wedding etiquette and wedding practice.
TheWeddingMile.com is currently running a promotion for sellers in which their first three months are free. After the three-month trial, there is a month-to-month subscription rate of $9.95. There are no hidden fees and subscriptions may be cancelled at any time.
Pinterest Contest
TheWeddingMile is currently sponsoring a contest for brides to re-write the caption on the sign of the below image and repin it (Pin It to Win it). This image is one of their most repinned images on Pinterest. TheWeddingMile.com will select a winner and they'll win a sign with a message of their choice. Here is the Pinterest board about the contest: http://pinterest.com/theweddingmile/wedding-mile-contests/

If you are planning to pop the question tomorrow or this weekend in honor of Valentine's Day, take a look at these stats from David’s Bridal’s “What’s On Brides’ Minds Survey” … before people pop the question!
More than half of brides (57%) would change something about their engagement ring if they could, with the biggest gripe being wanting a bigger stone (19%).
Despite this, only 36% actually would go through with upgrading!
Grooms need to keep their proposals more personal … bucking the seemingly popular trend of over the top, You Tube-friendly proposals, most brides actually prefer something much more low key
80% would scoff at a public Facebook proposal
63% wouldn’t say yes to their beau proposing on a Jumbotron
57% of brides would say no to the ever-popular flash mob proposal!
With Valentine’s Day being proposal central, it’s interesting to know that nearly a third of newlyweds actually embellish their engagement story to make it sound better. So, choose wisely when proposing guys!
Thanks to David's Bridal for sharing these stats with us!
Architecture and ocean blend the first hues of romance at the WaterColor Inn & Resort in Florida’s pristine area known as South Walton. Tucked between Destin and Seaside, on Scenic Highway 30-A, this intimate 60-room Inn is the inspiration of David Rockwell, a previous winner of Interiors magazine’s Designer of the Year. The Four Diamond AAA rated retreat has accumulated a long list of awards and accolades, including being selected in 2013 as a Conde’ Nast “Gold List” recipient and recognized as one of the top 30 in Travel + Leisure’s “Best Beach Hotels in America.” Here, you will find beach front rooms overlooking the world’s most beautiful beaches.
My husband and I were impressed with our huge guest room that faced the emerald waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The room’s innovative view of the ocean extends through a window in the large dual-shower enclosure. Yes, that is correct; you can shower without losing sight of the sea and sand. Comfy terry cloth robes and slippers are provided and all guest rooms feature a king size bed dressed in luxurious Egyptian cotton linens and large sofa. Our favorite amenity…the balcony complete with bright yellow Adirondack chairs. For the ultimate in luxury, reserve a “Rotunda Suite” featuring sweeping 180-degree views of blue sky merging with the Gulf.
From our balcony, we spotted an adult pool where couples were relaxing and a path beside the pool enticed us to explore. We opened a wooden gate beneath the pergola to a path of romance. The continuous rhythm of the waves, behind the waving sea oats, was like a siren drawing us closer to the Gulf. Childhood memories made me want to run and kick up the sand with my heels. Instead, we walked slowly, savoring the most relaxing sounds on earth—the caw of seagulls and waves pounding land.
I understand there is a scientific explanation for particles washing down from the Appalachian Mountains, thousands of years in the making, to form the sand here. All we really needed to know was steps from WaterColor Inn; we found the purest, whitest, quartz sand anywhere, providing a soft landing for stargazing at night. The Inn provided us with beach chairs and umbrellas for a soul-soothing front row seat to enjoy nature’s rhapsody during the day.
WaterColor Inn offers much more than the pleasures of the beach within this 499-acre resort. Guests enjoy access to additional amenities and activities located throughout the community including six pools. Complimentary bicycles, canoes, and kayaks make it easy for couples to ride to neighboring towns, paddle through the Western Lakea rare coastal dune lake and hike the woodland trail system. Guests can work out at the fitness center, enjoy a game of tennis and reserve fishing charters. Golfing couples have access to three golf courses, and the InnSpa offers a totally indulgent experience – “the art of rejuvenation.”
The Gathering Spot and Sushi Bar is a cozy lobby area of the Inn where we ordered a box lunch for our bicycle tour of WaterColor. While the resort boasts dozens of romantic picnic spots, we finally settled on Cerulean Park near the layered water feature. Here, the sprawling oak limbs shaded us while we munched on lunch delights. We also found a bike path nearby where just the two of us could explore nature. In fact, the South Walton area with more than 225,000 acres of protected and maintained local parks and preserves draws naturalists and adventure seekers to this peaceful paradise. There is even a 19-mile path that follows Scenic Hwy 30-A, perfect for biking and walking.
A favorite activity for couples at WaterColor is YOLO Boarding. Set out on a new adventure at WaterColor BoatHouse, along Western Lake, where you will find Tom Losee teaching the sport of stand up paddle boarding. Tom’s board brand, YOLO (you only live once) is well known along the Florida coast and beyond for their quality craftsmanship. If you are not an expert, not to worry, Tom will have you whizzing around the lake in no time. Take time to check out the shops at WaterColor. The Blue Giraffe, a specialty shop at North Center, is where you can purchase beach art that is sure to become a treasured memory from your honeymoon. Also, stock up on everything WaterColor at the Logo Store and BeachFolly is where you can find stylish beach apparel.
We had anticipated dinner at Fish Out of Water, the Inn’s award-winning signature restaurant all day. Chef de Cuisine, Lawrence Klang, blends traditional Southern fare with the Gulf’s finest seafood to create a dining experience you simply cannot forget. Call before your arrival, and reserve the restaurant’s wine room for an intimate dinner. Fish Out of Water overlooks the Gulf with its chic décor, and there is simply not a bad seat in the house. After dinner, we sat around the adult pool where the submerged pool lights illuminated the water with hues of pink and blue. We also lingered by the fire pit and slipped into the wooden swing for awhile before succumbing to our nightly walk on the moonlit beach.
We were back for breakfast the next morning at Fish Out of Water for Shane’s Shrimp and Grits and Quiche Lorraine. This time we dined early on the outdoor deck where the morning sunrays streaked over the Inn in soft shadows to alert guests it’s time for another day of activities. Other scenery included energetic guests traveling the boardwalk for a peaceful early morning walk on the beach. There is nothing like dining on good food with the ocean in full view.
WaterColor Inn & Resort is not only perfect for a honeymoon but has gained praises as a Destination Wedding venue as well. The resort boasts a private beach on the Gulf with magnificent sunsets to Western Lake Park with its majestic coastal pines. Cerulean Park, Marina Park, Inn Green and the BoatHouse are all popular spots to exchange vows. The resort will break ground on the LakeHouse in 2013, a 4,200-square-foot special event space adjacent to Western Lake. With a reputation for details, the resort’s personal bridal attendant will oversee every detail from the expertly prepared food to the last dance. While enjoying our daily early morning bike ride, we stopped by a huge tent buzzing with a full crew of workers preparing for a wedding at Marina Park. The vintage-style chandelier was hung—ready to spotlight the bride and groom.
WaterColor is known for an impeccable staff and service. The employees were always attentive and ready to offer helpful tips during our stay. They advised us the prime location for watching the sun melt into the Gulf is atop the Beach Club Grill. On our last evening at WaterColor Inn, the sunset was magnificent. It was almost like a painting, but I know an artist could not depict the beauty we witnessed. I wanted that moment to last forever. I was reminded of a quote from Mitch Albom’s book, For One More Day, “You can go your whole life collecting days, and none will outweigh the one you wish you had back.” The good news, WaterColor Inn will be waiting for us next year with more days filled with beauty and romance.

Recently I received a sample of Loo~Pourri, a preemptive bathroom spray made with Grapefruit & Vetiver Natural Essential Oils creates a barrier to potential bathroom odor. The blend of Essential Oils creates a protective film on the surface of the water effectively eliminating any odor before it even begins. It really does smell very nice and the bottle is pretty enough to leave out. I am using it in my guest bathroom in my house.
I have been to plenty wedding venues that did not have any type of spray or scent for the bathrooms and I think this would be an elegant touch to any wedding or event! It is also a great idea for your bridal suite to keep the atmosphere fresh. I checked the price online and it is only $9.95 for a bottle that gets about 100 uses! And like I mentioned before, the bottle is pretty and has a little bling on it!
