The Bridal Portrait
Basically, the bridal portrait is a formal portrait of the bride in her wedding gown. It is usually taken at an indoor studio one to two months before the wedding. This portrait is then displayed at the reception, usually near the guest book table. After the wedding, the portrait is usually displayed in the home of the bride's parents. The Cost The cost of the bridal portrait will vary depending on the wedding package you are buying but basically you are paying for two things: the sitting fee and the portrait itself. The sitting fee is the charge for the photographer's time and can cost anywhere from $50 to $500. The portrait itself could also cost up to $500 depending on the photographer and the size. The traditional size for this type of portrait is 16 x 20. Prepare For The Portrait When preparing for the bridal portrait you should act as if you getting ready for the wedding itself. You should make sure your dress is clean and pressed. Many bridal stores offer press packages when you buy your dress. These packages usually include two treatments - one before the portrait and one before the wedding. You should also have your hair and makeup done by the same professionals who will do your hair and makeup on the big day. The professionals will make you camera-ready and besides, the idea is to look as much like you will on your wedding day as possible. Make sure that you have the following items with you for the portrait:
